BIOGRAPHY
  Seattle & Vienna

  • Wendy Hendrickson and husband live in the Seattle Washington area
  • Second home, Vienna, Austria

Wendy was raised in a household culturally divided between her Hungarian mother and her Irish American father. His prized foreign bride forever kept the family at odds. Language and communication were always an issue in the family. But it fostered an interest in Wendy for language, meaning and understanding.

Wendy seemed to be born with a radio glued to her ear and pursued her interest in broadcasting.

  • BS Broadcast Journalism, Arizona State University, Cronkite School of Journalism
  • Television Production/Advertising earned several awards for Advertising Campaigns and individual TV Commercials
  • Creative Director at Seattle TV Station

After the birth of her second child she decided to pursue the spiritual nature of life (world religions and spirituality were always a passion) but she never gave up her love of radio.

  • Attended Trinity Luther College
  • Studied: Koine Greek / Biblical Studies / Christian Doctrines

While raising her children she worked for the Lutheran Church in Education and Youth ministries. Her avocation was storytelling. From the pulpit she loved to use story for illustrations of love, noble ideas and humanity. She presented at workshops on storytelling to educators at tri-state gatherings of Church educators.

  • Earned Master of Adult Education/TESOL
  • Seattle University
  • Contributing author to: Language Teaching Insights from other Fields ( 2 volumes)
  • Nominated for ELTon Award 2013: Innovation in Teacher Resources

Today she relishes teaching English to immigrants and international students at a local College.

Wendy continues to travel and study languages (German, Spanish and Italian). At times she delights in teaching Business English in Spain or Austria...so much opportunity for failures to communicate!

"The connection between language, culture and spirituality captivates me. I believe language is the nexus. Audio storytelling is the perfect tool for illustrating the connections while entertaining."
